Built in 1912 by William Karsten Sr., a retired sea captain that made his fortune opening the Pabst Brewery in Kewaunee, this luxurious three story hotel complete with dining room and bar was luxury at its best. It is easy to see the hard work and love put into the renovations by past owners to maintain the elegance of the Victorian, early twentieth-century era. From the reconstructed 1912 reception desk, the fine Victorian decor, grand lobby, elegantly carved staircase, to the impressive historical Tap Bar with lovely stained glass around the original Karsten bar. The Karsten Inn is also infamously known to be haunted by 3 spirits, Mr. Karsten himself, his 5 year old grandson Billy and a housekeeper named Agatha who its said was madly in love with Mr. Karsten.
